Music Service April 19

Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

…and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3.16b-17)

At morning worship on Sunday, April 19 (10:30am), all our music groups – Chancel Choir, Joy Bells, Spiritus, Joyful Noise, Youth Bells, Grace Notes, Children’s Choir, Silent Praise, The Way, and Resurrection Brass – will make music “in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Music uniquely touches the heart and connects us with our God, who is all around us and in us. Psalms are ancient and timeless cries, laments, and joyful praise. Hymns and spiritual songs comfort us, encourage us, and teach us scripture and wisdom, in both centuries-old and contemporary language. The nature of hymns varies widely, from elegant poetry to meditative lyric to rock and gospel – there’s something for everyone, in whatever place your life and heart happen to be.

Join us in a celebration of music and scripture on April 19 – and bring a friend to share the joy!
